Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to find out why the .DB file size reduces when
the database is stopped or when the service that runs the
database is shutdown. (Using ASA802)

We're having to monitor the size of the .DB file & take some
action when it grows beyond a certain limit. When the file
size reaches this limit, a sytem reboot is reducing the .DB
file size. This is causing some probs & here I'm
investigating the reasons behind the garnishing of the .DB
file size.

Any information/suggestions are helpful.
Thanks in advance
Tejo

In ASA8 and later, certain logs such as the checkpoint log are hosted at the
end of the database file. When the database is closed, a checkpoint occurs
and space attached to the checkpoint log is freed and the file size is
reduced.
