We are running Sybase SQLAnywhere 5.5.04 on a Novell 4.12 Server.

I'm having trouble finding information about the sybase.log file on our
system. This file is 1.2 gig and we would like to purge it or delete it
to clear out some space on the drive. Our database is called prismhr.db
and there is a prismhr.log file in the data folder.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the function and purpose of the sybase.log
file, and how, if possible, we can purge it or delete it?

Just to add-- it appears to me that the prismhr.log is a log created and
updated by the application, and that the sybase.log is a Sybase
transaction log. It is referred to in the startup command line.

load dbsrv50 -x IPX -c 10m -Z -o vol3:payroll\sybase.log
vol3:payroll\data\Pr
ismHR.DB

If correct, from my readings in the Sybase online documentation, we
should be able to shutdown the server and then just rename or delete the
file, and Sybase will start a new log file. Am I right?
