Please always post the version and build number of SQLAnywhere that you
are using (e.g. use the command "dbeng9 -v").

Can you show us the command-line parameters that you using to start the
server?

Can you also show us the connection string you use in the client when
trying to connect?

You might consider adding "LOG=C:\asa_connect.txt" (assuming you are
using MS-Windows) to your client connection parameters and try to
connect again. When the client fails to connect, take a look at the LOG
file to see where the failure occurred. If you aren't sure, post the
contents of the LOG file so we can see.

You might also try reading up on connection problems in the ASA 9.x
online help:

ASA Database Administration Guide

- Troubleshooting connections

or

Start with that page and use the "Next" button to walk through the
entire process.

Hope this helps,

Greg,
Thanks, after reading the doc, find out that the client and the server
are not in the same subnet, so using the Host option. Resolved. Thanks
