| On several Windows 2000 and 2003 servers when we connect to them with
Terminal services / Remote Desktop and then stops that session the
databaseservice is shuting down. This is very enoying. Do any other

You need to start the database server as aservice for it to persist
beyond a user session

| As a side note, if you do have it set up as a service I have seen instances
where "interact with desktop" has caused services to be shut down during
user session termination operations. So if this is happening even with a
service you may consider removing that checkmark.

We have some customers using 9.0.2 (not sure of EBF) and one with
9.0.1 EBF 1883

| It is started as a service. But some times it is restarted in Sybase
Central. The DB service starts automatic when the server is started
and I am quite sure that it shutes down when we close the Remote
Desktop session anyway
Is there any differense between starting the service with the service
mannager or in Sybase Central.

Not if you are doing so from the 'Services' tab.

| If the service is created with Interact with Desktop, it will be shut down.
This is because Windows issues a close to everything on the desktop when a
session is killed. When the database server is set to Interact with Desktop
it receives a shut down command from Windows.

| Run the services from the console. You can connect to the console
through Remote Desktop by adding /Console after the server name. Set
up a designated Windows account to run on the console and always use
that account to make the remote connection. You can leave the console
session running by clicking the close window button instead of
stopping the session and reconnect to it by using the same connection
parameters. When you close the remote session the console is locked.
This will prevent the disconnections you are experiencing.
