| First, ASA works just fine with Rep Server, I've had customers using ASA in
a Rep Server architecture since the SQL Anywhere 5.5.x days.
Now, what are your actual replication requirements? You mention that you
want to replicate on a per transaction basis. Is this a requirement to
maintain transactional boundaries for some reason, or simply to replicate
only committed transactions? If you do need to maintain transactional
boundaries, then both SQL Remote and Rep Server provide this. If you only
need to ensure that only committed transactions are replicated, then
MobiLink also provides this.
What replication latency do you require? Rep Server provides near real-time
replication, but both SQL Remote and MobiLink can provide a replication
interval of a minute depending on data volume.
What are your requirements for the consolidated database? Is there a reason
you are considering ASE for the consolidated? If it is a size consideration,
then we have customers using ASA databases in excess of 100GB and we have
customers with up to 1400 concurrent users.
