Author Naming of server

Hi there

If I give a server a name in Central Services, this name displays there and in Window's service panel.

However, as soon as I mount one db with -d some.db in the server's propery, the server name changes to that db's name, i.e. it has now the name "some".

This is extremly irritating to new users. They install a service, give it a name, mount a db named differently and still cannot connect because Central complains that it cannot find the server.

Why is this behavior? Why do I have to put -n server_name in the server's properties to GUARANTEE that the server keeps this name?

What is this good for?

Anyway, I prpopose to get rid of this automatic server name change.

The service name and the database server name are not related. A service
name can be anything and does not play any role in connectivity.

You should also review to understand the rules associated with the
naming of the server.

It is best practice to name the server using the -n server option.
