Message type and other questions

| Hi,
1. Can a publisher at consolidated database uses more than
one
message type? For example: FTP message type for some remotes
and others are using SMTP.
2. I am currently using ASA 8.0.3.5223. But I seem to face
problem when I try to extract the database for the remote
users.
For example, first extraction for remote A will succeed (I
use the
option to create the database for remote during extraction)
but the
second extraction for remote B will failed. It will always
hang
during the first table loading. For remote B, I have to
unload
first and reload later. Same goes with the rest of the
remotes.
I haven't come across things like this before while using
ASA 8.0.1.2600. Why and how do I overcome this problem?
3. What is causing this error?
I. 01/17 17:47:48. Error: WSAEADDRINUSE, the given address
in already in use.
I. 01/17 17:47:48. STOR Failed!
Thank you.

| 1. Yes.
2. Do you have -l3 on your ss/dbxtract command line? We fixed a bug in
7.0.4.3260 , 8.0.1.2496, and all version of 9.x and up where if -l3 was on
the ss/dbxtract command line, the extract didn't actually run at isolation
level 3 (QTS 237758). I suspect that as a result of this fix, the proper
locking is occurring, and your extracts are now serialized, which is The
Right Thing To Do If You Want Consistent Data.
3.Can you please post the entire SQL Remote log when this error occurs?

| For Q3, I will post to you the entire SQL Remote log later
because
I am having the whole week off next week for Chinese New
Year
celebration.

| Is this causing any problems? The message indicates that the file was in
use, we deleted it, retried and everything was fine. If you didn't have
debugging turned on, you never would have noticed.

| Sometimes yes. It will cause the execution to be completed.
It happen each time I start the dbremote. I have to wait
until the
particular remote databases which give problems fetch all
their
messages before the dbremote can run smoothly again.
This also force me to change the message type to file for
certain
remote databases. Any better idea? Currently I am using the
send every option (2 hours). Should I change this to a
bigger
value?

| Can you post a verbose SQL Remote output log when this message results in an
error? The attached log shows exactly what SQL Remote should do in this
situation, and no error is reported by SQL Remote ( i.e. no lines that start
with "E.").
You should not need to change to FILE based transport or change your send
frequency as a result of this message, but I'd need to see a dbremote log
where the STOR Failed leading to an actual error to able to see what's
really going on.

| I don't have the old log files with -v. And, since I change
to FILE
message type (temporary solution), I didn't receive this
kind
of error again.
I can't post the entire SQL Remote log here because it is
too
big.
