| Hi,
I'm using dbremote to replicate data. Because of negligence of the user,
some packages were lost and replication could not proceed. Can I somehow
restore thos packages?
Thanx
PS. I'm using ASA9

| Do you mean a lost message file? "Package" isn't a term that's used in SQL
Remote.
Is a message file is lost the receiving side should detect it and ask for a
resend. Can you post a dbremote output file from the receiving side showing
the error you are getting?

| If you can perform the following steps and post the output from each step,
we'll be able to tell you exactly what is going on.
At the Remote :
1) Capture the contents of the SYS.SYSREMOTEUSERS view to a text file named
rem_sr1.txt
2) Run dbremote on the remote and capture the output to a file names
rem_dbr2.txt
3) Capture the contents of the SYS.SYSREMOTEUSERS view to a text file named
rem_sr3.txt
At the Consolidated :
4) Capture the contents of the SYS.SYSREMOTEUSERS view to a text file named
con_sr4.txt
5) Run dbremote at the consolidated and capture the output to a file names
cons_dbr5.txt
6) Capture the contents of the SYS.SYSREMOTEUSERS view to a text file named

| In addition to the output that Reg has requested take another look at your
dbremote command line.
You are specifying the -r switch for "receive" but no -s switch for
"send". This means that you have told dbremote to receive only. Unless you
are running a separate instance of dbremote to send messages, then the
obvious explanation as to why the system is never recovering is that you
aren't letting this node respond to tell the sending node to resend the
message.

| Yes, I'm using this switch in purpose. I send data from one DB to another in
one way, the second DB is using like a storage for old data and it is in
Read only state for User. There is nothing to send back.

| Rob spotted it where I missed it. If this remote never sends anything back
to the sending side, there is no way for the sending side to have figured
out that a message was lost. If you remove "-s" from your dbremote command
line, the missing message should be resent.

Can this be ensured by running the agent on the storage db with sending
enabled, but no publication created? Or an empty publication is needed to be
created?

| The message system always requires 2-way communication. This doesn't mean
that there is always 2-way data replication. As Pavel noted, if you don't
have any publications on the remote database, then nothing will be
replicated up to the consolidated.
