Redirector and Windows Server 2003
|
|
|
| Hi:
Environment:
ASA 8.0.3 Build 5191
Windows Server 2003 and IIS6
I've successfully got MobiLink working via HTTP on a Windows 2000 Server,
IIS5 computer. Now I'm trying to do the same thing on Windows 2003 Server
and IIS6. IIS6 does not have the "scripts" directory for the iaredirect.dll
and redirector.config file, so I created one, made it a virtual directory in
IIS and set permissions for execute, copied the files there, modified
redirector.config and restarted IIS.
I then ran a test from my client machine in IE to see if my setup was ok. I
entered http://xx.xx.xx.xx:80/scripts/iaredirect.dll/ml/ . No log file
was created, but there was an entry in the IIS logfile where the command
came through.
I know Win 2003 is more secure and locked down tighter. Anyone have any
experience with this setup and know what other settings I may need to
change?
Thanks,
Jeff

Okay, you can start by showing us everything you did find, that was
logged.

| The MobiLink redirector currently only works on IIS5.

| Argh, I should re-word that last response.
The MobiLink redirector is not supported on IIS6. If you are using IIS,
you'll need to use IIS5.

| Does this apply to MobiLink 9.x as well as 8.x?
For what it is worth, as of today, I have MobiLink redirector working on
Windows 2003 Server and IIS6. I have successfully synced a 60mb database
and tested syncing after some changes and it works fine.

| I believe it applies to the redirector we ship with v9.x as well.
I was told that you could run IIS6 in "IIS5 mode" and that the redirector
should work in this scenario. Is that what you're doing?

| No, it is not in 'IIS5 mode'. However, IIS 6.0 prevents any web extension
from running unless explicitly allowed in IIS.
IIS 6.0 by default will not allow dynamic content, including ISAPI DLLs, to
be served until you enable it.
Here's a link to an article that help us figure it out. Scroll down to the
section heading "Using IIS 6.0 Basic Authentication and SSL":
