Author v7 & v9 same time on Moblink (win 2k) Server ?

We are planning our upgrade of v7 to v9.02.
We have 50 remote v7 Sybase sites Mobilinking (Win 2k) to
consolidated Oracle 8i db (8i being upgraded to 9i r2 on Sun
Solaris).
Question: Is the v9.02 Mobilink software backwards
compatible with the v7.02 and/or v7.03?
Or could/should we have two versions of Moblink running on
the Win 2k box pointing to different ports to handle the
mobilink of the different site versions? (as we upgrade an
individual we'd reload the sync def to point to the
appropriate port).

We'd like to set-up the Moblinink server first so we can
handle both consolidated db upgrade separately from
individual sites. What is the recommended strategy for the
Mobilink server?
Thanks.

A v702 and v703 remote client should be able to synchronize to a v902
MobiLink server.

My only suggestion is that you separate the upgrade of MobiLink and Oracle
by a few days to make sure everything is OK. I'm only saying this because
I'm a pessimist. If you upgrade MobiLink and Oracle at the same time and
something were to go wrong, you'd have no idea which software vendor to
blame. If you do one upgrade at a time, the problem solving is much easier
should something go wrong. I would also suggest upgrading MobiLink first,
since I'm not sure that Oracle 9ir2 existed when Mobilink v703 was released,
but we've definitely tested Mobilink v902 against Oracle 8i.

PS : I'd never heard MobiLink used as a verb before. Mobilinking. I like
it. :)

In addition to what Reg said, if you are planning to keep some V7
remotes running for a long time while upgrading others to V9, you
should create a whole separate set of MobiLink scripts using a
different "MobiLink Version" value on the consolidated database. This
second set would be for the V9 remotes to use, and initially they
would be the same. However, as time goes on and you want to enhance
the scripts for the V9 remotes to use, you can do that without
disturbing the V7 remotes.
