Protocol Error -10001 when migrating from Tomcat 4 to Tomcat 5

Using the same ML Server and Tomcat 4 works fine. Using Tomcat 5 fails with:

E. 08/18 21:29:11. <thread 1.4>: Error: [-10001] Protocol error

Server is:
AIX 5.2
ML 9.0.1.1753

Client is:
ML 9.0.1.1994

Any guidance is appreciated.

If that is the case, why does it work fine under Tomcat 4? Am I just lucky?

Secondly, can I move the server to 9.0.2 and leave the clients at 9.0.1?
