Has the CR been fixed?
|
|
| Frank Rizzo 2005-12-19, 8:25 pm |
| Gentlemen,
I am having trouble discerning whether CR 378944 has been fixed? I am
trying to find it on Sybase's web site, but can't seem to do it. As a
part of what EBF has it been released (if it was fixed, that is).

| To be sure we are talking about the right CR, the title description of it
is
"No Support when CursorLocation=adUse
Client"; it is an issue with
the OLE DB Provider.
CR 378944 has not yet been marked fixed. It also hasn't been given a
customer description value yet, which is why it isn't showing up on the
website.
However, there is an engineer's note in the CR dated Oct 6th
that says "This has been fixed."
I'll ask the engineer who filed the bug to add a description.

| Hi Frank,
CR 378944 is fixed in SDK 12.5.1 ESD#11 (OLE DB Provider by Sybase version
12.5.1.481). For some reason it never made the buglist. I am going to try
to get this listed on a later ESD. I just made the description visible now
so this should help a bit when folks are trying to see if the adUseClient
problem is resolved.
At this point you should try 12.5.1 SDK esd#11 and test it in your
environment to make sure it resolves any problems you might've encountered
with the Provider.
If you are using 15.0 SDK, then it should also be fixed there as well. It
should be in GA and ESD#1 for 15.0

| Very cool. Has the Windows Client download on the
http://www.sybase.com/linuxpromo page been updated to include the latest
fix?
Thanks

| Hi Frank,
I really do not know but I suspect that the client on the linuxpromo site is
the PC Client from the ASE 12.5.2 GA distribution. If you are using ASE
software already you should be able to download the SDK 12.5.1 ESD#11 from
the Sybase download website.

No, I am worried about my clients who probably won't bother to get the
updated SDK and just get the client software from the linuxpromo site
because it is so darn convinient (no forms to fill out, no logins,
etc...) and that's the one that has the problem with the Recordset.Open.

| Hi Frank,
This SDK cd is what gets distributed with 12.5.2 and above ASE
installations. The CDs never get refreshed unless there is some major
amount of changes in the client software. Since the 15.0 stuff is already
out I do not think there will ever be a refresh of the 12.5.1 SDK (which is
essentially what is on that distribution for pcclient_1252.zip file that
exists on the linux promo site). You could call customer service to see if
that can be changed.

| Is there a chance that the link to the 12.5 client on the linuxpromo
page will be replaced with the link to the 15.0 client? After all, the
promo is for ASE 15.0.

| Hi Frank,
I would think so. I just sent a suggestion to the contact - asking if they
could link to the 15.0 client.
