Author Upgrading glibc for ASE 15.0

I am in the process (inaugural) of upgrading glibc to 2.3.2 to sustain a
new ASE 15.0 instance on my old RH7.3 host. (There are reasons for
staying on this version or RH alongside an ASE 12.5.3).

I have the release successfully compiled but before embarking on the
"make install" and having surveyed the few HOWTO's on offer, I thought
I'd cast a final question towards the Sybase community for any gotcha's
or tips.

My reading to date suggests that act of upgrading can be problematic.
One method suggests booting in a single user shell to avoid file lock
conflicts. Another warns that should the process come off the rails do
not log out until corrections have been made!

What is the collective experience from Syber's one and all?

Cheers, Frank.
