Author Kerberos Authorisation

Hi,

I am using Sybase 125 on Solaris and using SEAM for kerberos. My problem is
how can I configure sybase to use kerberos. As in license.dat and sybpkg.dat
files I have to give port number so which port number should I use for
Kerberos.

Thanks

Sudhakar

Adding more :

If I m using lmgrd then I get socket error and if i m using lmgr it is not
able to contact license server.

Hello,

You should not cross post to several different groups
as it will cause a great deal of confusion with some
people replying to one group and not others. See number
7 in the usage document:
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=47613

Engineering created a document for configuring Sybase for
use with Kerberos and it is posted here:
http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1029260

I created my own document with a few additional details
specific to Sun's native kerberos which I will attach here.

You should not have to make any modifications to sybpkg.dat.

You will want to install the Software Developer's Kit ESD#7
so you can avoid this bug:
369997 - Native kerberos appends an extral character @ to
the client principal name during login. This causes the
connection to fail.

Thanks Neal,

I will not cross post my queries.

I have one more query:

How do I test my Kerberos installation is OK. If I am using following string
:

isql -U{Kerberos User added in Sybase} -V
I am getting error

If I am using isql -U{Kerberos User added in Sybase} -R {Kerberos User
added in Sybase}@REALM it asks me password and logs me in.

Hi Sudhakar,

You will need to start the license manager. If it doesn't start you should be getting an error message of some sort.

Hi Jason,

Perhaps you need a better newsreader to handle cross-posts.
Cross-posting isn't necessarily evil unless abused.
