Hi,

I can't seem to get access to the 15 Beta even though I'm signed up... Can
anybody direct me to documentation on advertised new features:

Virtual database
Object-level Restore
Column-level encryption

Thanks!

Hi Jeffrey,

the ASE 15 beta is closed since v15 is now GA. Go to
http://sybooks.sybase.com/asg1500e.html for the version 15 documentation

Hi Jeff,

The 15.0 Beta is over and the product was released yesterday.
The documentation for 15.0 GA is now at at
http://sybooks.sybase.com/onlinebooks/group-as/asg1500e

Column-level encryption didn't make 15.0 GA, but it is in the 12.5.3a release
so you can read about it in the 12.5.3a documentation at
http://sybooks.sybase.com/onlineboo...neric__BookView

Object-level Restore also didn't make the 15.0 GA.
"Virtual Database" is the same thing as the object-level restore -
(or rather object-level restore is one aspect of Virtual Database)
i.e. the idea of the feature is you can mount a dump file and extract
data from it, which would make the mounted dump file a virtual database...
I haven't seen any documentation on this yet, though it was discussed at
Techwave. CR for this is 394819.

Was just reading the New Features and Changes in 15.0.
I saw under the section "Changed system tables" for the syscolumns table:

New columns:
encrtype – Type of encryption
encrlen – Length of encrypted column
encrkeydid – Encryption key id
encrkeydb – Database name containing encryption key
encrdate – Date column was encrypted.
