Any Sybase ASE benchmarks with ZFS on Solaris 10?
|
|
| Subraya Pai 2005-12-28, 3:24 am |
| G'day,
Has anyone tried the ZFS file system for ASE 12.5.x on
Solaris 10? ZFS on paper looks very good and seems to
outweigh any benefit that one can get from RAW.
If you have experience or done any performance benachmarks,
kindly share.
Cheers,
Pai

| Hi,
The Solaris 10 filesystem performance is at the moment not as fast as
you want, there is a kernel thing about this. I have roughly tested
01/06 on ufs and there it seems ok. It should also be solved on nevada
b29 (which have zfs). At that time we can say something about zfs
performance.

As you can see sun has a patch for it (GA), but when you want to test
zfs you need a nevada build

| Hi,
reply on my on message,
Solaris 10 01/06 has still the problems, you need really the path for
the link which is only available for contract owners.

| Hi Sjaak ,
were you able to get the 120048-03/120049-03 patch from Sun.
We contacted our local Sun office , but we were told that
this patch doesn't exist or they are not able/allowed to
get it distributed.
Do you have more information.
Thanks
Marcel

| Hi,
No, i have search and have not found the patches. So i think they only
available within SUN at the moment.
First i had some troubles with my account and the linked contracts so i
was thinking about that. Later on when that was fixed, i could not find
them either.

| Hi,
The patches needed for sybase on Solaris 10 are available from the
sunsolve site or with smpatch
