ASP Connection to EAS

| All;
Has anyone successfully configured an IIs 5.1 web server on Windows XP
Pro SP2 to communicate with EAS 5.2 in the same environment using a standard
call through Jaguar.ORB (Jagproxy.dll)? I have had no previous problems on
W2K Pro.
Note: Norton AV and FW 2005 installed - but no change when they are
disabled.
Thanks ... Chris

| I thought someone found that if you install with termainal server on Jag
proxy will never work. If you install with terminal server turned off it
works. I have never tried.

| Thanks Dean;
I thought that was with W2003. However, I will see if my XP
configuration has that loaded.

Terminal Service IS installed on my XP. I cannot find anywhere to delete
it .. however - I can disable it. After that, do I have to reinstall the EAS
client to get Jagproxy working again?
Thanks .. Chris

OK, reinstalled EAS with TS disabled. No change ... I still get the
800A2330 error.
Are there features to allow us to debug / trace the JagProxy.dll? It is
definitely being loaded.

OK ... here is the answer (after playing Sherlock Holmes for quite a
while) ....
The problem I have was a missing DLL (ASP error 800A02330)! The problem has
nothing to do with MS Terminal Server by the way. Here are the steps to
solving (debugging) your Jaguar.ORB (Jagproxy.dll) problems ...
First ... how do you trace the problem from the Jagproxy.dll point of view?
Answer: Add the following statement to your ASP.net script that is
instantiating the client Active-X as follows:
aORB.init("-ORBlogIIOP=true,-ORBHttp=false,- ORBlogFile=c:\inetpu
b\tlb\Jagorb
..log")
Note: For the ",-ORBlogFile" parameter, direct the output to a location
suitable in your environment.
This will give you a detailed trace of the problem from the Active-X's
point-of-view.

As you can see from the ORB trace file. The problem was:
=> Failed to load library: libjctssecct_f140, reason: The specified
module could not be found.
I could not originally figure this out as I had the "C:\Program
Files\Sybase\EAServe
r\dll" in the system path. However, I did notice that
the entry was at the end of the System Path. So just for fun I moved the
entry to the front of the PATH. After that, the error went away!
So all I can conclude at this point in time, is that the IIs web server
somehow has a problem reading a long system path entry and truncates the
search early in the game for the missing DLL.
Weird but true!
I hope this information helps others in the same predicament.

Note: Norton AV and Internet Security 2004/2005 did NOT interfere or play a
role in the original problem nor it's solution as I originally thought.
