Hi
I've seen this problem posted on this group in the past but I am yet to
find a solution to the problem.

I'm trying to import a simple spreadsheet into Access but am getting a
message saying 'An error occurred trying to import the file
C:\blah\blah.xls. The file was not imported'. I try and import the
file by going to the file menu in Access - Get External Data -
Import...

I've checked for validation errors but can't see any obvious problems.
I have formatted the spreadsheet before trying to import it so that
numeric cells are formatted as numbers, made sure there are no blank
cells, copied the data into a new worksheet, made sure there are no
unusual field headings. 80% of the time I can import into Access with
no problem but I can't see any reason for this not to work. No error
file is created so it's very hard to understand why there is a problem.
Any advice would be very gratefully received. I am running Access
2002 and Excel 2002 on a networked XP desktop.

It's ugly, it's stupid, but it might work.
Highlight the spreadsheet and copy it.
Open a new table in Access in datasheet view.
Highlight the datasheet and paste in the sheet.
If it works, look at your data for weirdness.
If it does not work, move on to the next advice message.
