We are using Office 2003, but kept our database in the 2000 format. I am
unable to use the object dependencies in Access 2003. Could the 2000 format
be the problem? Thanks.

No, the feature 'works' (in as much as it ever works at all) with 2000
format. It does, however, require that Name AutoCorrect be enabled, and
that's something that you really don't want to do. See Allen Browne's

DSmith, what do you mean by "unable to use the object dependencies"?

Turning on the Name AutoCorrupt setting Brendan referred to should enable
the feature, but please do this in a *copy* of the database that you don't
mind destroying, and whether you can "use" it might be a matter of
definition.

I tried this in an old database that was known to have queries and forms
that referred to tables that no longer existed. I coded up a solution to
list the bad dependencies, but found that Access just kept crashing (shut
down by Windows.) I never did get the code to run to completion. After
several dozen crashes, recreations of the database (and restarts), I
concluded that this "feature" was completely unusable, at least as a way of
tracing bad dependecies.

BTW: An alternative is the cross-reference feature in Rick Fisher's Find and
Replace utility (www.rickworld.com). The cross-reference feature is disabled
in the shareware version, you have to register to enable it, but
registration costs little and is, in my opinion, very good value for money.
(I have no connection with Rick Fisher Consulting other than being a very
satisfied customer.)

Thanks. I did have the AutoCorrect enabled, but everytime I tried to run the
object dependency the database would stop responding. I found that it did
run correctly on a similar database. So there is something just not quite
right with the problem database--it needs a lot work. I don't work in Access
everyday and it takes a lot of mind dedication to get back into it. I'll
look at the add-in and see if I can make use of it. Thanks again.

ok to delete the Name Autocorrect Log Table or will it ever be needed?
