Author move an access 97 database to a Windows 2003 server

I am trying to move an access 97 database to a Windows 2003 server.
Ultimately this database will be published through citrix, but for now I
would be happy getting it to work in the 2003 environment.

The customer insist that the database stay as access 97. This is an SQL
front end connected with an ODBC connection. The database will run until I
open a form. The forms are running VB scripts. Once the form is open the
access process is shut down. It leaves the lbd file open with no other
remnant of the process. I can however run the VB code outside of access.

The database will run on any other OS I've tried including XP, NT, and 2000.
I have even tried to publish the DB from a file server (point the
access.exe, DB and working directory of the published app on a machine the
DB will run on locally).

I have tried all compatibility modes from 95 to XP. I ran filemon without
much indication of what killing the process. Nothing gets logged to the
event log. I get a Dr Watson dump every time I open one of the killer forms,
but have had no luck deciphering anything out of it.

Any Ideas.
