Author Disk Or Network Error

I have a client that has internal software running that connects to an Access
97 database.

I set up a website that allows people to query this database using ADO. The
database server is windows 2000, the web server uses IIS/Windows 2003.

I have an access database on the web server which links to the access
database on the database server. I had problems when trying to create a
datasource in ASP to connect to a different server.

If the database server is rebooted, when it comes back up, I get "Disk or
Network Error" when my ASP code on the web server tries to access the
database. I can't just restart the IIS logical web server. I get the same
error. I have to reboot the physical web server completely and then all is
well.

The only article I could find relating to this issue is this one:

http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;251254

This doesn't help too much. I have my environmental system TEMP and TMP
variables both pointing to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP. When the database server gets
rebooted, it doesn't affect the temp directory on the web server, so this
artcile doesn't really address my issue.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why I must PHYSICALLY reboot the web
server? Does anyone know how I can work around this issue so I don't need to
physically reboot the web server (other than upgrade to Access 2000/2003 or
SQL Server)?

Any help/direction appreciated.
