| Hi,
On an installation we have 10 local users on access.
We have 5 remote users on a RF link to the same access database
the problem is:
When a new user try to log on, he have a message box with a yes no button
"the database xxx.mdb must be repaired or is not a database."
When this happen all the currently log user can continu working everything
is fine.
But we must stop everyone to perform the compact.
Is that sound familiar for someone?
Regards,
Pierre

| Yes...and this should probably be expected. Sharing an Access file requires
a fast, stable network connection. Yours is probably neither. If it is
necessary for remote users to access this database, you might consider using
terminal server or similar technology. But you really shouldn't open an
Access database over anything other than a local wired network.

| What do you mean by a terminal server? (like windows server 2003?)
Can it be used on a network with a rf link?
What are the other technology available, can you describe a bit,
regards

| Terminal Server
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsser...es/default.mspx
Remote Desktop
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...emoteintro.mspx
Plus other products like GoToMyPC, PCAnywhere, etc..
Any of these could be used with wireless/RF. Bear in mind the objective
here is to allow the RF user to connect to a system that is WIRED on the
network and remote control that system through one of the technologies
listed. Still, the cheapest and better solution may be to get your users on
a wired network connection.
