Author different Jet versions

I understand from mskb 209137 that mismatched versions of the Jet Database
Engine can cause corruption.
I have a corrupted database used by one Win 2000 user, one Win XP and five
Win98.

mskb 239114 shows how to get the latest Jet update, but leaves us with the
Win 98 users at 4.0.8015.0. The Win XP and Win 2000 users have done the
update for MS04-014 which puts them at 4.0.8618.0. There doesn't seem to be
an update for 98 users to get to 8618. Apparently, MS04-014 is not critical
for Win98.
Is it sufficient to be at 4.0.8xxx.0 or do the versions need to be
identical?
If they must be identical, how do the Win98 users get to 8618?
Thanks.
