Author Data not being added to BE

Windows XP, MS Access 2000

I have a split database with the BE on the server, and FE (with linked
tables) on my local desktop. The tables, queries and forms were designed
before splitting the db.

I created a new form in my FE to update data in one of the tables, and went
ahead and added a new record. I tried both ways - binding the form to the
table, and to the query for the table (using wizard).

Interestingly enough, when I opened the table in the BE after I added the
new record, the table did not show the new record. Also, when I open the FE
from another user's desktop, the new record does not appear. It does appear
in my FE though.

I'm wondering if somehow I got disconnected from the BE and the data I'm
entering is being stored locally.
When I open the FE on my desktop, and go to Tables, I do see the linked
tables.

Do I have to do an explicit update of BE tables (by relinking them through
Tools-->Database Utilities-->Linked Table Manager)?

Or, am I missing something obvious here?

thanks.

Amit,

Is there another copy of the BE somewhere? Any chance you are linked to
and storing new records there? Open the Linked Table Manager and look at
the path to the BE.

Nikos,

You were right on!! Yes, the FE was linked to a different (backup) copy of
the BE. And, when I checked the tables in that BE, the new record was there.

Thanks once again.

Cheers,

-Amit
