Author Is record locked?

What is the fastest way to know if a record is currently modified and locked
by another user?

My app has a form calling a subform but I don't want a user calling a
subform if the data in the parent form is being updated by another user.

I can use a RecordsetClone.Edit and .Update but I would prefer a more direct
way.

Thanks
Jean
