READ-ONLY popup on open

| I have an Access2002 database. It is NOT marked Read-only in Properties. All
users have read/write access to the folder the database is in. An LDB file is
created when someone opens the database. The OPTION is set to open SHARED.
However, when someone opens the database, and another user attempts to open
it as well, they get a "Database is read-only" popup. It says that the user
will not be able to save changes to data or schema.
Note that the users use the tables directly. That is, each user opens the
one table in the database to manually view the information (long story). Is
there any way I can allow refresh of the table data from a remote database
while others have it open?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

| They have Read and Write permissions, but do they have FULL permission?
They need "Modify" to change an existing ldb file. They need "delete" to
remove an ldb file after a shared database is closed by the last user.

| Yes, everyone has MODIFY permission.

| I have always given full control. I do not know what the specific rights
needed are, but I have always been told that the user needs full permissions
to the folder, so that is what I give them.
Have you tried it?

has opened the ONE table in the database has anything to do with this? No
queries, no forms, just the one table.

Generally you should not be working in a table. Each user should have a
front-end on their own PC linked to the backend. Your original post sounds
like you already know all of this though.
