| I am having an issue with an application for a client. I have a BE and FE in
a multi-user environment.
The core information for the application is stored in one large wide table.
I decided not to break the data into separate tables because it's not a very
sophisticated application. This one table contains audit information that
is updated at different points through out the life of the audit. The audit
checklist contains 6 distinct sections of information. At the end of the
audit process, information in printed in a
Audit Checklist word document.
Basic Flow of Application:
1. Initial audit checklist information is entered and a record is created.
2. Assigned to an auditor
3. Assigned auditor has ability to retrieve only audit information assigned
to them.
4. Auditor enters information for all sections of checklist.
5. Audit Checklist document is printed.
For the proces of the auditor, entering the checklist information.
1. List of open audit checklist is displayed for auditor
2. Auditor double-clicks on desired audit entry and a "command center"
type window is displayed retrieving that one record.
3. Command buttons are on this screen and available to user to click to
enter Section specific information about the audit. The command center and
windows accessed from the buttons are all referencing the same record.
The application has been having data loss/corruption issues when mutlitple
people are using the application.
The BE/FE databases are:
1. Opened in shared mode
2. Default locking is to "None".
3. The Open database with recod level locking checkbox is enabled. I'm
not sure if that is a problem.
4 Share folder with BE has permissions set to full control for users.
The individual form's "Record Lock" parameter on the forms is set to "None".
I think I have configured the BE/FE application properly. I have desployed
this type of application before and have not had these issues. The
environment is as follows:
1. Windows 2000 Server
2. Microsoft XP Workstations
I don't know if the network or XP workstations may also be contributing to
the problem. Please advise and point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Sheila
