Access 97 Performance Leak after Switching to W2K3 Fileserver
|
|
|
| Hi all,
we use several Access97 Applications in a Multiuser Environment - after
we migrated the Fileserver which was serving the Access-Databases from
Novell to Windows 2003, the Users complained about bad Access
Performance.
That brings me to my Question: Is there a way to Tune a Windows 2003
Fileserver for Access Performance?
Thanks for your Tips in Advance

There are some server specific things to review at the Access
Performance FAQ page at
http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/performancefaq.htm
One of them is if you have too many folders in the path of the back
end MDB. That is \\share_name\app_nam
e\MDB_Backend.MDB is fine but
\\sharename\folder1\
folder2\folder3\fold
er4\folder5\folder6\
MDB_Backend.MDB
is not as good.
Another might be virus scanning on the server. Ensure that MDBs are
not scanned for viruses.
