Hello All

I have a split FE/BE a97 mdb, with 4 PCs on a peer-to-peer W2k network each
with their own FE, and a BE on a fileserver running w2kserver.
Whenever I try to do a compact/repair on the FE on my PC I get "The
microsoft jet database engine stopped the process because you and another
user are attempting to change the same data at the same time". But this is
not true - there is definitely only one instance of access open on my PC and
none of the other PCs on the network even have access open - so they
certainly don't have my FE open or the BE open.

I hope someone has some idea about this, because the FE is becoming very
bloated without being compacted.

Many thanks
Leslie Isaacs

This message can also be a sign of corruption. I'd try by importing
the objects in the FE into a new MDB.

For more information on corruption including possible causes,
determining the offending PC, retrieving your data, links, official MS
KB articles and a list of vendors who state they can fix corruption
see the Microsoft Access Corruption FAQ at
