I can't use MDAC 2.8 on my system. How am I supposed to reinstall the OLEDB
providers?

DJ,
Why can't you use MdAC 2.8? What OS are you running? Are you trying =
while logged in as (at least) a local Administrator?

In case you're looking for the VFP OLEDB provider: it's not included in
MDAC. You can download the latest OLEDB provider from the vfp web site at
msdn.com/vfoxpro.

When I try and install the MDAC 2.8 SP1 it states that MDAC 2.8 cannot be
installed on this operating system as these services are covered by the
update services for Windows. That's not the exact message, but that's the
gist of it.

I seem to have been able to get it installed finally, however, I thought I
remembered that the OLE DB drivers showed up in the ODBC listing. They do
not seem to be there anymore. Am I misremembering here?

DJ,
Yes, you are misremembering. The OLE DB clients have never been listed =
with the ODBC drivers (Data Sources). You may want to get the MDAC =
Component Checker at =
http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/down...s/default.aspx. It will =
determine what you have installed and whether it is up-to-date.
