T*he following changes will take place on 13-FEB-2005 *

The list of Oracle releases for Linux in AFS is the following...

*[oracle@pcora11 linux]$* cd /afs/cern.ch/project/oracle/linux
*[oracle@pcora11 linux]$* ls
../ 10102/ */10103//* 920/ 9205/ dev6ip10/ dev6ip13/
prod@ Versions
.../ 10102gcc323/ 8174/ 9204/ */9206//* dev6ip12/ dev6ip7@ test/

The changes are the following:

*Linux clients*

* The new default version will be based on *9.2.0.6*.
* The current default version, based on *8.1.7.4*, will be removed
(now that all the database servers have been migrated to "at
least" 9.2.0.6)
* The following "old" releases will be removed
o *10102* (Oracle 10g Release 1 - base release)
o *10102gcc323* (Oracle 10g Release 1 - base release +
libraries compiled for building OCCI applications with gcc
3.2.3)
o *920* (Oracle 9i Release 2 - base release)
o *9204* (Oracle 9i Release 2 + Patch Set 4)
o *9205* (Oracle 9i Release 2 + Patch Set 5)
o *dev6ip10* (Oracle Developer 6i + Patch Set 10)
o *dev6ip12* (Oracle Developer 6i + Patch Set 12)

The new *10103* release can be used directly with the gcc/g++ 3.2.3
compilers to build OCI/OCCI and Pro*C applications.

People using the default version, will not need to change anything in
their environments. Those people using the _*setoraenv*_ script to
target a specific release, will need to set the correct the release
number should they be using one the versions to be removed.

Example: *lxplus070.cern.ch:$ setoraenv -s 9206

*Please contact oracle.support@cern.ch if you have any question
concerning this operation.
