Support Forum for database administrators and web based access to important newsgroups related to databasesHi, I find much regrettable that Database Engine Tuning Advisor be not part of MS-Express Edition ... A server without such help is not a server. Besides, you've got the tutorials, but not the tool to play with :-((( Regards, JM Blaise

A server without such help is not a server. Previous versions of SQL Server didn't have this feature and were still 'servers'. A competent DBA should be able to perform database tuning manually. I agree that DETA can be a DBA productivity tool or used as a GUI tool to hold a non-DBA's hand. IMHO, it's not a core server component. > Besides, you've got the tutorials, but not the tool to play with :-((( MS Marketing probably wants to whet your appetite :-) If you feel strongly that this feature should be included, consider making this suggestion at the product feedback center: http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/productfeedback/. You could also spend 50 USD for the developer edition and then implement recommendations on your Express Edition database schema. -- Hope this helps.
