Detroit SQL Server User Group.
Greetings,

We are pleased to announce the that new found blood has given the
Detroit Area SQL Server Special Interest Group/Usergroup a new look and
new talent.

As a result of promotions and in general getting the word about the
group we area now around 100 members strong and growing and meeting
each month with at least one major presentation from some of the
industries leading advocates.

Join us for our next meeting, March 9th, 2006 at the Microsoft office
in Southfield, Michigan

Topic: Performance Baselining, Benchmarking, and Monitoring

Presenter: Kevin Kline, President of the Professional Association for
SQL Server (PASS), Director of Technology as Quest Software and author
of books such as "SQL in a Nutshell" published by O'Reilly &
Associates.
Level: 200

Abstract: It's impossible to truly tune a SQL Server without a good
understanding of its performance profile and work load. This session
describes techniques and procedures to assess the baseline performance
profile of a SQL Server, benchmark the performance of the server under
varying work loads, and how to continuously monitor the server for
maximum availability and performance.

This session will help you:

1. Learn how to set up baselines, benchmarks, and monitoring
2. Understand the benefits and drawbacks of the two main approaches to
monitoring
3. Learn major PerfMon counters that are important for baselining,
benchmarking, and monitoring
This presentation will have a primary emphasis on SQL Sever 2005.

Registration: Please visit our website at www.SQLSIG.org for
registration information, maps and directions.

Thanks,
Charles Deaton
President
Detroit Area SQL Server Special Interest Group
