Support Forum for database administrators and web based access to important newsgroups related to databasesI just purchased SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition with 5 cals, and an additional 5 cals from CDW. They are overnighting the disks, (and emailing me the 5 addtitional cals) but since I have MSDN download access, is there any reason I cant just install from the MDSN and get started right away? Is the software they are sending me the same as what I download from MSDN?
Post Follow-up to this messageI just had a similar situation. I am not sure about MSDN, because there are lots of demo versions on there, but if you have a Select or enterprise contract you can download from there. They usually send you an email with info on how to log on, but it is avail here. https://licensing.microsoft.com/eLi...033/Default.asp skinnydipclean@gmail .com wrote: > I just purchased SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition with 5 cals, and an > additional 5 cals from CDW. > > They are overnighting the disks, (and emailing me the 5 addtitional > cals) but since I have MSDN download access, is there any reason I cant > just install from the MDSN and get started right away? > > Is the software they are sending me the same as what I download from > MSDN?

Post Follow-up to this messageMSDN licensing is only for testing and is not to be used in production environments. The right thing to do is to wait until your disks arrive; if you were audited by MS, then you would face a stiff fine for illegal use of software.
