sql server startup

how do you startup sqserver without recovering user databases?

If you mean the automatic recovery, that won´t work, because at every start
up
there is omething like an instant recovery is done to check wheter the
databases can be reached. Why do you want to do something like that ?

The emergency setting for this is trace flag 3607, but should only be for ve
ry special situations. I
