Support Forum for database administrators and web based access to important newsgroups related to databasesWhen the SQL Server SP4 was released I was informed it had some issues with AWE. Is those issues are still exist? Is it safe to installs SP4? My SQL Server installation left with default AWE settings (value of 0). Since AWE is not enabled, applying SP4 should not be any issue in my case. Thanks, Larry
Post Follow-up to this messageHi No problem for you. You do not have to apply the patch to bring you to version 2040 from 2039 Regards -------------------------------- Mike Epprecht, Microsoft SQL Server MVP Zurich, Switzerland IM: mike@epprecht.net MVP Program: http://www.microsoft.com/mvp Blog: http://www.msmvps.com/epprecht/ "Larry Smith" < LSmith_Melbourne@hot mail.com> wrote in message news:O0GnXdgxFHA.2136@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > When the SQL Server SP4 was released I was informed it had some issues > with > AWE. > > Is those issues are still exist? Post Follow-up to this messageYou are suggesting that I can live without SP4? See the link below what Microsoft says..... http://www.microsoft.com/sql/techin... er.mspx This link prompted me to apply the SP4. What is version 2039/2040? My SQL Server installation says 8.00.760 ?? Post Follow-up to this messageHi No. Apply SP4, but if you are not using AWE memory, you do not have to apply the hotfix to SP4 to fix the AWE memory issue. 8.00.2039 = SP4 You currently have SP3 installed. Post Follow-up to this messageThank you for the suggestion. How did you derive the equation "8.00.2039 = SP4" ?
